Cheryl Sabo

Music Educator / Mommy

Cheryl Anderson Sabo is a flutist, educator, small business owner and mom to 2 energetic, amazing teenagers. Cheryl started teaching dance and flute in neighborhood studios when she was still in high school. Throughout college and graduate school, she studied to be a classical flutist, earning her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music.

While performing with Tales & Scales, an innovative chamber music group based in Indiana, Cheryl found her joy – creating unique music, movement, and story-based learning environments for children. She completed the highest level of teacher training through Music Together Worldwide, and opened Music Together Vivo in 2001.

When Cheryl became a new mommy, it was her delight to put into practice all the songs, lullabies, and music-making activities she shared with families in class – but with her own little ones! Music, songs, movement games, and a community of other new parents all helped her survive and thrive through those challenging and precious early childhood years. Want tools to thrive, too? Cheryl's children have aged out of the Music Together program, but she still loves meeting new families and facilitating each family's transition into being a musical family. Cheryl's classes meet in person near her home in Northern Virginia and online. If you'd like to find an in-person class near you, use the class locator to find a local director near you.

In addition to teaching Music Together & Rhythm Kids, Cheryl teaches Kripalu Yoga, presents parenting workshops for libraries and community groups, and loves to hike, garden, and cook with her family.
