Sultana Karim, M.A., LCPC, LPC, CCTP, PMH-C, is the owner and psychotherapist at Karim Counseling Services, PLLC. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C). She has 12 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various settings, including outpatient mental health, child advocacy centers, domestic violence shelters, family services, hospital, and adoption agency. She specializes in treating sexual and domestic violence, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy and infant loss, birth trauma, and childhood trauma in her practice.

Sultana is one of the founding members of the Maternal Quality Care Alliance. She is a member of the Perinatal Mental Health Coalition of Virginia and the PUSH Coalition. In these organizations, she strives to advocate for and educate the community on maternal mental health, maternal mortality, community-based collaboration and solutions, trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and implicit bias. She is an Approved Clinical Supervisor for LPC and LMFT by the Virginia Board of Counseling. She has presented on the topics of racial and ethnic disparities in perinatal mental health, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), cultural humility, impact of domestic violence on children, child sexual abuse, play therapy, perception on seeking counseling, bullying and cyberbullying on mental health, and perception of race and gender.
